Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th March 2007

Musical Director:   Mark Spiteri Lucas

Spiteri Lucas Entertainment in collaboration with Hermann Bonaci Productions, staged another first for the Maltese Islands - Flashback, a spectactular live show featuring hits from the 70s and 80s.

This production that was staged at the Catholic Institute Theatre, gave its audience the opportunity to relive the excitement and teenage memories through some of the greatest songs that hit the charts in the late 70s and 80s.  Popular numbers by Stevie Wonder, Real Thing, Elton John, Donna Summer, Amii Stewart, Gloria Gaynor, Bananrama, The Bangles, Abba, The Pointer Sisters, Whitney Huston, Lionel Ritchie, The Police, Boy George and his Culture Club, Madonna, Rick Astley, Michael Jackson, Europe, Queen and Katrina and the Waves amongst others, featured prominently in this show.

From the solid disco beat of "Hot Stuff", "Venus" "Fame" "I Will Survive" and "What a Feeling" to other hit tunes such as "Karma Chameleon", "Like a Virgin", "Wake me up before you go go" and "Walkin' on Sunshine". Sentimental songs such as Dirty Dancing's "The Time of my Life" and Johnny Logan's "Hold me now" were also included in the rich song list. There was also space for a couple of Abba's songs, a medley of popular 70s hit musical "Grease" and John Miles' classical master piece Music (was my first love).  The rockish sound of Europe's The Final Countdown, Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a Place on Earth" as well as a couple of Queen's songs surely spiced up the spectacular production.

A star studded cast with talented and established artists like J. Anvil, Eleanor Cassar, Glen Vella, Debbie Scerri, Nadine Axisa, Leontine, Ludwig Galea, Christabelle Curmi, Ivan Spiteri Lucas, Godwin Lucas and Hermann Bonaci and Klinsmann took part in the show. All artists were accompanied by a live seven piece band under the direction of popular musician and singer Mark Spiteri Lucas. Celaine Buhagiar with her Dancel Dance Troupe was responsible for choreography. The other musicians in the show were: Jesmond Baldacchino (drums), Joe M. Vella (Bass), Fabio Caligari (lead guitar), Adrian Brincat (trumpet), Joe Muscat (saxophone) and Kurt Spiteri Lucas (keyboards).
