DIPINTO DI BLu
a gala live concert featuring Italian and Neapolitan Songs
@ St. James Cavalier Music Room, Valletta
Friday 12th, Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th November 2004
Musical Director: Mark Spiteri Lucas
Dipinto di Blu presented a varied repertoire of popular Italian and Neapolitan melodies. From Giorgia's "Come Saprei" or Laura Pausini's "La Solitudine", the hit tune that put her into the forefront of the Italian music scene, to upbeat songs such as Mina's "Tintarella di Luna". The song-list included well-known numbers such as Bocelli's "Sogno" and "Vivo Per Lei", De Crescenzo's "Ancora", Eros's "Piu' Bella Cosa", Pooh's "Uomini Soli", Baglioni's classical ballad "Questo Piccolo Grande Amore", Mia Martini's "Almeno Tu Nell'Universo" and Marcella Bella's "Montagne Verdi". The classical touch from Naples was not missing, and evergreen Neapolitan tunes such as "Santa Lucia", "O Sole Mio", "Sordato" Innamorato", "Feniculi Fenicula" and "Torna a Surriento", just to mention a few stole the show. Dipinto di Blu featured Nadine Axisa, Ivan and Mark Spiteri Lucas, Maria Mallia, pop tenor Aldo Busuttil, and Neville Refalo. All artists were accompanied by a live trio that included Mark Spiteri Lucas (piano), Patrick Camilleri (drums and percussion) and Joe M. Vella (double bass).
